At the time of this project, the design of the ‘Plant Pot’ had not really changed since it was conceptualised and mass produced. Although it is certainly an efficient and functional design, you could say that it lacks any emotive value. A good friend of mine, Trevor Brinkman, and myself set ourself the weekend challenge to re-think what a plant pot could look like, and what forms would be more suited to an indoor context. We drew inspiration for the design of vases and drew up the design for a more enclosed system, hiding the dirt and drawing focus to the plant itself. Designs were sketched, foam modelled and then 3D printed. The next stage will be to cast these designs in different materials.
